Looking for a Contractor? “Get It In Writing” is a resource for consumers who want to make an informed decision when choosing a contractor. It has tips and suggestions, links to relevant sites outlining consumer rights and health and safety requirements, insurance and legal requirements and is an excellent overall resource for the consumer and builder alike.
New home: buying, selling, building. Tarion Warranty Corporation regulates the home building industry and provides warranty services for new home buyers. Tarion Warranty Corporation website has information that pertains to both consumers and industry professionals.
Workplace safety and insurance. The Workplace Safety & Insurance Board site is full of information for emloyers and employees about safety in any workplace. Find out about current health and safety legislation, proposed changes in legislation, review research and policies, get safety tips, as well as report and file your WSIB premiums.
The environment and protecting our resources is on the forefront of Canadian issues. Both consumers and builders can take steps during the building process to ensure that our finished products are the most energy efficient possible. Current home owners can also take steps to upgrade items in their home to improve efficiency. There are many incentive programs available that are designed to encourage and reward those who build or renovate with energy conservation in mind. With members in Haliburton County, Hastings County and The District of Muskoka, our members cover a lot of area and a lot of townships, each with their own set of rules and regulations for the building industry. The township sites can help builders and consumers make sure they understand the specifications in each area and provide contact information to resolve any questions that may arise before, during and after a project.
